I do a boatload of commercials. I do a few character
voices. I'm probably strongest at longer-form media
(marketing, training, corporate image, audio books,
etc.).
I do voice mail systems and on-hold
messages. Communication is about more than simply
reading words well or having a nice voice. It requires
managing the relevant vocabulary, AND having enough
sense of what's being said to project confidence and
intelligibility. It's my job to become transparent so
that people will remember you.
I've done extensive work for educational
clients throughout my career, including
textbooks-to-tape, web-based training and classroom
materials in subjects ranging from history, science and
geography to safe handling of medical gases and
installation of cellular telephone towers.
As a web designer and computer geek, I'm
very much at home around technical terminology. I also
have a special interest in children and children's
media. You might enjoy visiting my site featuring
streaming audio stories for kids, called
www.LightUpYourBrain.com, or some of my original
music for kids, at
www.TheChuckleberries.com.
I am also working on a project to read
the entire New Testament online at
www.HideYourWord.com.
One unexpected benefit of the web sites
where I do a lot of reading has been their popularity
with ESL (English as a Second Language) students from
around the world (especially Eastern Europe and Asia).
I've heard from a number of such students that my
reading has been very helpful to them in their studies,
and a number of ESL web sites in various countries have
listed the sites as valuable resources.
